About the role

Develop and manage individual and group strength training programs for collegiate student-athletes. Oversee the safe execution of exercises including Olympic lifts and speed development to optimize athletic performance and safety.

Position Summary

The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for the development and management of individual and group strength training programs for men and women student-athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program.

Essential functions

Oversees programming that includes Olympic lifts, functional strength and power activities, flexibility for body management, balance and coordination, quality of movement and athleticism, linear and multi-directional speed development exercises to meet the demands of the athlete's position, level, event and sport.

Leads the team or individual student-athletes in the safe, correct, optimized and efficient execution of exercises in an effort to obtain the desired results as well as ensure the health, and mental and physical safety of the student-athlete.

Instructs student-athletes in safe and effective spotting techniques and procedures in an effort to optimize the effects of the exercise. Instructs student-athletes in body management such as correctives, pre-habilitation, and re-generation exercises to reduce unnecessary injuries, and increase in consistency and confidence in competitive performance.

Position qualifications

Highly motivated and energetic individual that is organized and has time management skills

Must have communication skills, developing rapport with small and large groups. Has the ability to communicate vision to the team while motivating others to contribute.

At least two years of experience is preferred in progressively responsible positions involving the development and management of sport-specific individual and group strength training programs for men and women at the college/university level is preferred.

Any experience in management of a health/fitness or weight training facility is preferred.

Student-athlete experience, in any sport at the collegiate level, is preferred.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required, Masters Preferred

Experience

1-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education or experience.

Certificates & Licenses: Member of NSCA, Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist preferred, CrossFit Level 1 preferred
