Job Overview In the absence of the school Nurse, the Substitute Nurse will fulfill the responsibilities of the Nurse by functioning as a health care provider and health care manager in the school setting by planning, assigning and directing the work of the Health Services program. Position Description Essential
Operations Identify, assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate student and staff health concerns, including physical and mental health needs and injuries using available health data to accommodate needs of students and staff Provide health assessments, referrals, follow-up, and reporting for health factors impacting student education Maintain accurate and complete student health records including immunizations, medication administration, individual student treatment records and screening results Promote and assist in the control of communicable diseases by interpreting and complying with regulations including Texas immunization law, early intervention, surveillance, reporting, and follow-up Communication Provide chronic disease management and training to designated personnel, ensuring competency, including but not limited to medication administration, seizure care, anaphylaxis care, ventilator care, gastrostomy feedings, tracheostomy care, and catheterizations Plan and Implement individualized healthcare plans and services for children with disabilities and/or health conditions interfering with learning, including medication administration and monitoring Supervisory Responsibilities
