This position ensures instruction aligns with the school’s approved curriculum and standards set by the California State Board of Vocational Nursing. The role reports directly to the Director of Nursing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONBILITIES Deliver and implement the assigned curriculum under the direction of the Director of Nursing. Serve as a professional role model for students. Plan and conduct classroom instruction and skills lab sessions to meet established course objectives and learning outcomes. Maintain scheduled office hours for student consultation and academic support. Evaluate student performance through exams, practical assessments, and participation, providing timely and constructive feedback. Prepare, administer, and grade written and practical examinations. Develop and submit written lesson plans and study guides for each assigned course. Assign and oversee student activities in classroom, lab, and clinical environments. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in accordance with accreditation, licensing, and institutional policies. Engage in regular student advising to support academic and professional development. Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Collaborate with colleagues to continually improve instructional methods and learning outcomes. Identify and address individual and group learning needs, considering students’ physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Participate in departmental meetings and collaborate with the Director of Nursing. Model and promote the values, attitudes, and professional standards appropriate to the nursing field. Support the efficient and cost-effective use of educational materials and resources. Assist in the selection, development, and evaluation of instructional materials. Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment initiatives. Assist with accreditation preparations and compliance. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and external partners, including clinical affiliates and Advisory Board members. INSTRUCTION: The instructor will oversee and facilitate laboratory sessions for students in the lab. This role involves providing hands-on instruction, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and inquiry. QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution satisfactory to the Board and a minimum of two years of experience as a licensed nurse within the past five years or Associates degree from an accredited institution satisfactory to the Board and a minimum of six recent years of recent experience as a licensed nurse. Must possess current valid California license to practice as a registered nurse or as a licensed vocational nurse. Completed or currently enrolled in advanced courses in the field of education including courses in the principles of teaching.
