Responsible for the security and safety of The New School buildings and premises. Duties include implementing emergency response activities and providing superior customer service.

This is a Local 32BJ position subject to the terms and conditions agreed to in the contract between The New School and Local 32BJ.

The New School seeks professional Security Officers that will be responsible for the security and safety of The New School buildings. A drug screening examination, criminal history and background check is required for this position. This position reports to the Security Shift Supervisor.

Core capabilities and primary duties and responsibilities

Knowledge of all site-specific policies and procedures.

Implement emergency response activities as appropriate.

Provide superior customer service as well as providing building and premises security.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of related work experience & 30 college credits from an accredited college or university and/or the equivalent combination of security, military, or law enforcement experience.
  • Must have a New York State-Issued Security Guard License.
  • Proficient in the English language.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• State Fire Safety Director’s License is a plus.

Work mode

This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement. #LI-ONSITE

Hourly Rate: $18 per hour
