HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT SUN VALLEY ACADEMY As a Paraprofessional, you will play a hands-on role in supporting both students and classroom teachers.
Reporting directly to the assigned Campus Principal and working closely with classroom teachers, you will provide instructional support, assist with student supervision, and help maintain a safe and engaging learning environment.
In this role, you will support small-group and one-on-one instruction, reinforce positive student behavior, and assist with classroom routines and enrichment activities.
You will also help with instructional materials, recordkeeping, and classroom organization.
Your work ensures that teachers can focus on delivering high-quality instruction while students receive the support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
This position is critical to creating a positive, well-supported learning environment where students feel safe, encouraged, and empowered to reach their full potential.
As a paraprofessional, your role includes: Provide instruction and classroom management services under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher.
Provide instruction to individual students and small groups of students.
Assist in developing and preparing instructional materials and training modules.
Assist with the establishment and reinforcement of acceptable student behavior, attitudes, and social skills.
Assist with student enrichment activities including field trips, art and recreation.
Assist with recordkeeping for the instructional program and student records.
Assist with the inventory and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Monitor and assist with transporting students to and from school and on field trips.
Monitor and assist students during meal, recess, and dismissal periods.
Maintain a schedule established by the supervising teacher.
Use a variety of activities and materials approved by the supervising teacher.
Work effectively with general and special education teachers.
Supervise students as assigned by the principal.
Assist with student testing administration and scoring.
Assist classroom teachers with general cleanup and preparation.
Attend in-service training for continued professional development.
Work with students on a one-to-one basis including students with sensory, cognitive, emotional and/or physical disabilities.
Perform the duties required of the position including confidentiality, personal organization and timely submission of all paperwork.
Participate in staff development training, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Associate's Degree in Education or completion of 60 college credit hours or Paraprofessional Certification; documentation of an approved paraprofessional qualification, including one of the following: ETS ParaPro Assessment (formerly Praxis ParaPro Assessment) ACT WorkKeys (Writing, Applied Mathematics, and Reading for Information) Master Teacher's ParaEducator PD Now! (formerly ParaEducator Learning Network) Work in a timely and efficient manner Ability to relate to public, staff and students in a positive manner Ability to use word processing on a PC computer Possess or able to obtain current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card Valid CPR and First Aid Certification (Must be tested and obtained from in-person course)
Requires an Associate's Degree in Education, 60 college credit hours, or a Paraprofessional Certification. Candidates must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card and valid CPR/First Aid certifications.
