  • You'll Do: Under general supervision from the Program Director, the Instructor will perform a variety of routine duties. This position requires direct contact with students in instruction, training, and monitoring professional and academic development throughout their program. On average, Instructors teach three classes per day or evening shift. The Instructor provides a learning experience to in the classroom and in the lab using a variety of teaching methods such as lectures and demonstrations and using audiovisual and technological aids to supplement the presentations as well as evaluating their achievements. Keep students engaged in a classroom environment while following an established curriculum / syllabus Create positive educational climate for students to learn in while establishing and communicating clear objectives for all learning activities Offer constant guidance during the practical portion of class- educating students on proper technique and skills Meet course and school-wide student performance goals Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures. Observe and evaluate student's performance and counsel those who do not adhere to guidelines Recognize and analyze outward signs of problems that students may have that inhibit their achievement and take appropriate action. Identify and refer students who are “at risk" of leaving the course to Academic Advisor Provide ongoing student advisement and academic counseling by tutoring and mentoring students on an individual basis when needed Grade tests and projects, maintain grade books, track attendance and perform other administrative duties as needed Administer oral, written, or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate training effectiveness Participate in ongoing conferences, seminars, and training sessions. Provide input and participate in academic committees formed for the purpose of enrichment of both the programs and students

  • You: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. A minimum of two (2) years experience directly related to the programs overseen is required. (Post-Secondary Instructor experience preferred) Documented formal education/training in the field of study for which the program is preparing students to enter Meet applicable accreditation, state and national faculty/instructor credential, certification and/or licensure standards associated with program areas overseen by holding a current CDA or RDA from the Dental Assisting National Board Working knowledge of instructional theory, basic education principles, practices and methodologies, the developmental process, competency-based curricula, and general classroom and lab practices Possesses good organizational skills, knowledge of record keeping procedures, including the ability to collect and organize data and information Ability to establish and maintain appropriate levels of authority as well as creating an atmosphere of support and confidence for students Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and students Ability to deal effectively with stress caused by workload, deadlines, and situations as they occur Must be tactful, have good interpersonal skills and sound judgment

Requirements

Candidates must have at least two years of related experience and hold a current CDA or RDA certification from the Dental Assisting National Board. Formal education in the field and knowledge of instructional methodologies are required.
