About the role

Evaluate electronic admission applications and provide recommendations to the Admission Committee. Perform international application reading and attend required committee meetings.

The Office of Admission at Williams College is seeking applicants for the part-time, seasonal position of Admission Application Reader, 2026-2027 cycle.

Application Readers receive extensive training and are responsible for evaluating applications and making recommendations to the Admission Committee.

All applications are evaluated electronically.

Application Readers will work from approximately October 26 through mid-February (training takes place from late October through early November; application review does not begin until mid-November).

The bulk of the work is concentrated during Regular Decision reading from early January through mid-February between the hours of 8:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (though evening or weekend reading may be possible if scheduling allows).

A more detailed breakdown of the anticipated work schedule is as follows: Late October/early November (dates to be determined): 3-5 days of required, in-person training in Williamstown November 13-22: Approximately 5-10 hours of application reading December 11-22: Approximately 10-15 hours of application reading Late November/early December (dates to be determined): 4 to 8 hours of required virtual committee attendance Second week of January through the first or second week of February: An average of 20 hours per week of international application reading

Qualifications

Familiarity with the nature and aims of a selective liberal arts college, as well as a bachelor’s degree are required. One to three years of application reading, particularly with international admission experience at a selective college or university is strongly preferred. Experience in a higher education, secondary school or other relevant educational setting is welcome. Strong organizational skills, exceptional written communication skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and access to a strong internet connection are essential. Application Readers may work remotely, with the exception of the fall in-person training dates, but the work must be completed in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York or Vermont to be eligible for the position. All Admission Application Readers will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. The hourly rate is $27. Review of resumes will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
