About the role

Lead weekly Tai Chi classes for cancer patients to help manage chemotherapy side effects and reduce stress. Responsibilities include assessing patient appropriateness, tailoring treatments, and maintaining clinical documentation.

This position will lead a Tai Chi class at the Bennett Cancer Center every Thursday from 11:00-12:00pm

Tai Chi Instruction at the Bennett Cancer Center is a program designed to

Better manage side effects from chemotherapy and radiation.

Minimize anxiety depression, and stress.

Improve muscle strength, balance, and endurance.

Reduce pain and muscle tension.

Tap into and experience the power of controlling your breath.

Major accountabilities / Critical responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing the contracted integrative oncology modality.
  • Responsible for assessment of patient’s appropriateness for treatment and for tailoring the treatment to meet the patient’s needs.
  • Responsible for administering pre- and post-treatment quality-of-life surveys as appropriate.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation and record-keeping.
  • Communicates issues to appropriate coordinator.
  • Responsible for educational workshops that fall under his or her area of expertise.
  • Meets Stamford Health System’s standards for appropriate professional behavior at all times.
  • Responsible for maintaining a timely schedule.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in order to maintain a high level of service.
  • Completes required continuous hospital required training and education, including department specific requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Must be certified in Original Tai Chi Fundamentals
  • Tai Chi Adapted Program certifications
