About the role

Teach an asynchronous online Medical Terminology course to undergraduate health sciences students. Responsibilities include grading assignments, mentoring students, and communicating progress to the Department Chair.

Job Details Job Summary This course focuses on the structure and use of medical language, anatomy/ physiology, and common documentation formats.

It covers medical terminology, anatomy, symbols, and abbreviations, and the application of this new language in the field of health care.

While terms are covered as they relate to body structure and function, the focus is on medical vocabulary and being able to construct terms using word parts such as roots, prefixes, and suffixes.

It also includes an introduction to medical informatics.

Clinical cases may be utilized to illustrate the use of medical terminology in the health care setting.

The course meets asynchronously online, utilizing a digital learning platform and learning management system.

Job Description

Essential Functions Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Teach the Medical Terminology course to undergraduate health sciences students. Meet and assist students at an individual level when needed. Review and grade the required student assignments. Correspond with students on Canvas or related inter-campus communication systems Meets with the Chair to communicate student progress, strengths, and weaknesses. Submit final grades to Banner by the due date. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Education: Graduate degree required in a related field such as Nursing, Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Health Sciences, Physician Assistant Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Respiratory Therapy. AND Experience: Minimum two years of college teaching experience in the content area or related discipline, including teaching asynchronous online medical terminology courses.
