About the Role

The VPK Lead Teacher plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality early childhood education to prepare four-year-old children for kindergarten success.

This position is responsible for designing and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans that align with the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program standards and state guidelines.

The Lead Teacher fosters a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child.

Collaboration with families, staff, and community resources is essential to support children's learning and well-being.

Ultimately, the VPK Lead Teacher ensures that every child gains foundational skills and confidence to thrive in their educational journey.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Florida Staff Credential as a VPK Lead Teacher
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education standards.
  • Ability to pass background screening and meet health and safety requirements.
  • The ability to love all children for who they are
  • Always willing and able to put the child's safety first

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment in early childhood programs.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices and working with children with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication skills for effective family engagement and team collaboration.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans that meet VPK curriculum standards and promote holistic child development.
  • Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
  • Assess and document each child's progress regularly, using observations and developmental checklists.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to share children's progress and involve them in the learning process.
  • Collaborate with assistant teachers, support staff, and administration to maintain compliance with licensing and program requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with early childhood education best practices.
  • Manage classroom materials and resources to support instructional activities and maintain organization.
