Position Summary

The Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. This role assists with implementing classroom activities, maintaining daily routines, documenting child development, and promoting positive social, emotional, and educational growth. The ideal candidate demonstrates a genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to supporting their developmental needs.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily classroom activities that support:

Cognitive development

Speech and language development

Fine and gross motor skills

Self-help and independence skills

Social-emotional growth

Positive behavior management

Support the documentation of children’s progress and skills related to Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) goals.

Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary classroom environment.

Assist with classroom setup and preparation for daily activities and lessons.

Clean, organize, and properly store toys, materials, and equipment at the end of each session.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all children and families.

Attend and participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and Professional Development Learning (PDL) meetings.

Follow all program policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and developmental milestones.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience caring for or working with young children.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow the direction of the Lead Teacher and Director of Children’s Services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated patience, compassion, and enthusiasm for supporting young children's learning and development.

  • Ability to actively engage with young children throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move educational materials, toys, and equipment as needed.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and move frequently within a classroom environment.

Work environment

This position works in an early childhood educational setting and requires frequent interaction with young children, families, and staff. Maintaining a safe, supportive, and child-centered environment is essential.

Hourly Pay

$13.00

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8a-2:30p, Friday 8a-12p (Full-time)
