About the role

The BCBA will conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and implement behavior support plans to improve student outcomes. They will collaborate with teachers, mental health teams, and coordinators to provide guidance and professional development on behavior management.

Summary

The BCBA will work school-wide to support positive behavioral outcomes for BRCPS students as assigned by the Director of Student Services. The BCBA will work directly with students and collaborate and work closely with classroom teachers, school Directors, Mental Health Team, CST Coordinator to implement behavior support plans for students.

Major

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) for students with and without disabilities
  • Follow through with recommendations made as a result of the FBA
  • Collect, maintain and analyze data, and prepare reports for the purposes of documenting case history, assessments and treatments
  • Oversee implication of behavior support plans, make changes, and collaborate with the teachers
  • Support teachers that are having trouble with behavior management in the classroom
  • Collaborate with teachers to construct behavior plans for specific students, if needed
  • Support new teachers in the beginning of the year to discuss behavior management, with highlights about how the BRCPS approaches behavior management and expectations
  • Conduct mid-year check in with new teachers and discuss positive strategies and provide strategies for improvement
  • Collaborate with Child Study Team Coordinator on behavioral referrals
  • Collaborate with school Mental Health team on behavioral referrals
  • Provide professional development on behavior for grades or classes that have a need or interest
  • Collaborate with Mentor program for new teachers and provide professional development and guidance

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCABA) certification required or ability to obtain within one year of hire
  • Minimum (2) years experience completing comprehensive functional assessments and behavior support plans (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Elementary Education (or related major) (Required)
  • Master’s Degree (Strongly Preferred)
  • Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure, or High Qualified Status (Required)
  • Three or more years of successful teaching and working in an urban public school or charter
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with teachers and possess communication skills of listening, oral communication and oral presentation
  • Experience providing professional development for teachers
  • Strong organizational skills

Requirements

Requires a BCBA or BCABA certification, a bachelor's degree in Human Services or Education, and Massachusetts teaching licensure. Candidates must have at least two years of experience in functional assessments and three years of experience in urban public or charter schools.
