Christel House Indianapolis is currently seeking a full-time K-8 Social Worker at Academy West. Days of Service: 200 Days
Masters of Social Work. Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Academy and Christel House International Job Tasks: Identifies and assesses academic problems through analysis of factors impinging on student adjustment. Counsel students and/or families regarding issues including mental health, substance abuse, physical abuse, social adjustment, truancy, behavioral issues, and school adjustment. Positively promote collaborative processes in educational planning for students by encouraging parent/guardian participation in the school setting. Determine and implement appropriate therapeutic strategies to effect changes in behavioral and social interactions of students and their families. Collaborate with school staff in implementing strategies to promote student learning. Provide crisis intervention services. Provide social work case management for students and families. Provide staff consultation on behavioral, emotional, and environmental issues affecting student participation in the learning process. Conduct home visits related to establishing communication and positive connections between the parent/guardian and school setting around identified issues. Complete risk assessments on referred students. Maintain case history records and prepare reports. Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds. Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails. Maintain a working knowledge of available resources for students and their families. Participate in appropriate professional activities Other duties assigned.
