Strategies to Empower People (STEP) is hiring a full-time Employment Support Staff to provide on-site work instruction and support for a deaf adult with an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability.
This position supports a person who is deaf or hard-of-hearing and requires STRONG AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) skills.
What is the job?
Employment Support Staff provide on-site support for our clients at their job site.
We are looking for empathetic, patient, and creative individuals who can help our clients find new ways to grow their independence and develop their job skills!
This includes support with activities like: Modeling appropriate behavior at the workplace Providing hands-on support Supporting with self-advocacy Teaching about appropriate workplace communication & behavior Personal growth and health management And much more!
This position requires STRONG AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) skills.
Individuals with minimal to no AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) skills will not be considered.
Qualified applicants: Must be 18+ with a high school diploma, GED, or Certificate of Completion Must have at least one (1) year of professional, relatable experience Must be a driver with CA Driver License, current auto insurance, and a clear Motor Vehicle Record Must have STRONG AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) skills The rate of pay for this position ranges from $24 to $27 per hour, based on review of relevant work experience.
SCHEDULE The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and requires travel between Roseville and Sacramento (mileage reimbursement provided).
LOCATION Our Employment Support Staff provide support in the Greater Sacramento area and may be required to transport the client to various job sites, including sites located in Placer County.
