- As a Sign Language Interpreter with Point Quest Group, you'll play a vital role in ensuring equitable access to education for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. - Ongoing professional development opportunities What You'll Do: · Provide accurate, real-time interpretation services (e.g., ASL, Signed English) for students in classroom instruction, small groups, assemblies, and school events · Adapt communication methods to match each student’s language needs, preferences, and IEP accommodations · Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure instructional content is accessible and delivered effectively · Support student independence by facilitating communication without altering the content or intent of the message · Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards of practice · Participate in IEP meetings and contribute insight on communication access and student progress · Prepare for instructional content by reviewing materials in advance to ensure accurate and effective interpretation · Build positive relationships with students, staff, and families to support a collaborative and inclusive school environment What We're Looking For: Must Have
- Educational Interpreter Approval from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)
- Department of Justice/FBI Background Check (or equivalent state or national fingerprint clearance)
- Eligibility to work in the United States Preferred
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification
- Prior experience interpreting in a K–12 school setting
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and educational interpreting best practices
