About the role

The Youth Program Coach is responsible for running multi-sport classes for children aged 3-12 in a professional and engaging manner. Key duties include setting up equipment, explaining sports rules, and maintaining a safe, positive environment for all participants.

Description Youth Program Staff is a year-round position responsible for supporting the Director of Youth Programs in a variety of youth-focused programs and events.

Staff members assist with daily operations, supervision, and creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children and families across multiple programs, including Nook Learning League, Nook Kid Nights, Mini Movers, Nook Days Off, Homeschool Gym Classes, and special events such as Daddy Daughter Dance, Breakfast with Santa, and many more.

This role requires flexibility, professionalism, enthusiasm, and a passion for working with children of all ages.

NOTE: Because this position will involve routine interaction with children, all candidates must successfully obtain the following clearances PRIOR to beginning employment: PA State Police criminal history record, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprint-based criminal history clearance.

You must possess the “Employment” versions of each clearance and not the “Volunteer” versions.

  • Essential Job Functions Assist with the daily operations and supervision of a variety of Youth Programs, including Nook Learning League, Nook Kid Nights, Mini Movers, Nook Days Off, Homeschool Gym Classes, and special events.
  • Set up, organize, and tear down classrooms, activity spaces, and event areas before and after programs.
  • Lead and assist with age-appropriate activities, games, crafts, sports, and educational experiences.
  • Ensure programs remain on schedule while adapting activities to meet the needs of the group.
  • Supervise children at all times and respond appropriately to behavioral, medical, or emergency situations.
  • Support the Director of Youth Programs with program preparation, special events, administrative tasks, and other duties as assigned.
  • Be energetic, interactive, and actively engaged with children throughout each program.

Basic Qualifications Background in youth programming and coaching with general knowledge about a variety of sports Previous experience working with children in an activity, camp, workshop, or coaching setting Current CPR/AED certification Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field or current enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program and 2 years of experience working with children 18 years of age or older Dependable transportation to and from work Language skills: Fluent knowledge of the English language; including the ability to read and interpret written information and speak and understand verbal communication Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the position with any reasonable accommodations as necessary Availability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed Authorized to work in the United States Highly dependable with a history of consistent attendance and punctuality Demonstrates a positive and friendly attitude towards guests, customers, and fellow employees. Working Conditions Work environment

Upbeat, high-energy sports and event complex with heavy foot traffic and frequent large crowds.

Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be regularly required to perform physical activity that includes moving about the work area, standing, sitting, bending, reaching with hands and arms, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing and smelling. The team member will be frequently required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. He or she is required to have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Lifting requirements: The team member will be required to lift, push, pull, lower and/or move up to 10 lbs regularly, and up to 40 lbs occasionally.

Noise

Level: The noise level in this environment is typically moderate to loud.

Work schedule: The work schedule will fluctuate to include evenings and weekends.

Requirements

Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a background in youth programming and the ability to obtain PA state and FBI criminal clearances. A Bachelor's degree in Education and CPR/AED certification are preferred.
