The Assistant Group Leader implements classroom curriculum and provides homework assistance to school-age children. They are responsible for maintaining a safe environment and managing program operations according to EEC and ADA standards.
The Before and After School Assistant Group Leader helps implement classroom curriculum, provides homework assistance, and supports a safe, healthy, engaging, and nurturing Afterschool environment.
This opening serves the Emilson Y branch, covering Norwell and Scituate program locations.
Days are full of hands-on engagement, from morning activities to after-school homework help, gross motor play, and arts and crafts.
Your Role Will Include: Program Management: Assist in planning and executing programs meeting EEC/HEPA/QRIS/CACFP standards and children's needs; help accommodate children with disabilities per EEC and ADA.
Staff Engagement: Assist in supervising program participants per EEC/QRIS standards; communicate staff-related requirements to your supervisor.
Membership Engagement: Build family relationships, assist with inquiries, and help recruit new families.
Facility Management: Help keep program facilities and equipment safe, clean, and well maintained.
Volunteer Development: Assist in engaging volunteers.
Community Involvement: Support YMCA fundraising activities and community partnerships.
Must be at least 16 years of age. Experience with school-age children and EEC regulations preferred. Reliable transportation required, comfortable and able to work across more than one location as needed. Must pass background check: EEC background check including fingerprinting. Knowledge of EEC regulations. Strong relationship-building skills with staff, children, families, and volunteers; positive, professional approach to family needs. EEC Professional Development requirements; PQ Registry current, reflecting all PD hours, trainings, and college-level coursework. Must pass and maintain EEC CORI/SORI background checks (employer reimbursed). Salary and Benefits: $15.00-$19.00 per hour. Sick time accrual: 1 hour per 30 hours worked. Complimentary individual YMCA membership. 25% discount on childcare; 50% discount on camp. Benefits require 40+ hours/week (per hiring spreadsheet). Locations & Shift Times: Part-time, AM, PM or Split shift. Before School 6:45 - 9:00 AM; After School 2:45 - 6:00 PM, Monday-Friday. Grades K-5 and SSCPS, Grades K-8.
