About the role

The Head Start Teacher creates and manages a warm, challenging learning environment using developmentally appropriate activities for young children. The role involves meeting the needs of both the group and individual children while reporting to the Lead Teacher.

Crossroads Youth & Family Services, Inc. is seeking Head Start Teachers for its Main street location in Cleveland County. The Head Start Teacher creates and manages an attractive, warm, and challenging learning environment for young children, incorporating developmentally appropriate learning activities which meet the needs of the group as well as those of individual children. This position reports to the Lead Teacher, who reports to the Area Supervisor, as assigned..

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in early childhood education, Child Development or related degree with six (6) class in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Childhood Development (CD); OR
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent

License

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have access to a motor vehicle with acceptable liability insurance
  • CPR certified (preferred)

Knowledge

Must be computer literate and have accurate typing skills as well as the ability to operate a variety of office equipment;

Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal and analytical skills required;

Community resources, methods and practices of health and safety precautions, providing age-appropriate education services and facilitating family involvement in program services;

Ability to comply with Head Start Performance Standards.
