The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing instructional programs and direct services to students according to their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This includes developing research-based curricula, managing a safe learning environment, and monitoring academic progress through data analysis.
The mission of the school is to prepare students living in and around Central Harlem for matriculation to outstanding public, private, and parochial high schools by nurturing their intellectual, emotional, artistic, and social development.
Currently serving grades K–6, the school is expanding by adding one grade level each year to become a full K–8 institution.

Extracurricular Activities
Organize and supervise approved field trips to enhance classroom learning.
Provide opportunities and supervise activities in order for students to demonstrate individually and in ensembles or large groups the skills and talents developed in the music program
Driven educator with an unrelenting focus on organization along with a high level of student and school-wide performance in achieving/exceeding state standards
Champions change, supports school leader in trying to apply new ideas and methods; actively motivates and encourages others to adapt to change
Demonstrates persistence in overcoming and removing obstacles that impact student achievement

Working knowledge of the charter school movement and culture
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree and New York State Special Education Certification (Birth-2 or 1-6). Experience with at-risk populations and a Master's degree are preferred.
