Salary Range

$32,736 - $37,200 Summary: The In-House Substitute Teacher provides consistent instructional and classroom support throughout the school by serving as the substitute teacher for teacher absences while also supporting students through small-group instruction, one-on-one interventions, classroom assistance, and student supervision when substitute coverage is not needed. Under the direction of the School Principal or designee, the In-House Substitute Teacher maintains continuity of instruction by implementing lesson plans, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students. This position is assigned to the school daily and may provide support in one or more classrooms, intervention settings, or the in-school suspension classroom as needed. Essential Duties and Professional Responsibilities: Substitute Teaching Serve as the primary substitute teacher for assigned teacher absences throughout the school. Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher. Deliver engaging instruction aligned with curriculum standards and school expectations. Take accurate student attendance and maintain required classroom records. Maintain an organized, safe, and productive classroom environment. Utilize effective classroom management strategies to promote positive student behavior. Leave detailed notes regarding student progress, attendance, behavior, and completed assignments for the classroom teacher. Ensure classroom materials and equipment are properly organized before leaving the assignment. Student Instruction and Support Provide small-group and one-on-one academic support to reinforce classroom instruction. Assist students in developing academic skills, learning strategies, and organizational habits. Prepare instructional materials and learning resources as needed. Assist with administering classroom and standardized assessments. Monitor and document student academic and behavioral progress. Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, progress monitoring, and assessment data. Enter required information into the school's student information systems. Student Supervision Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and other school settings. Provide supervision and instructional support in the in-school suspension classroom when assigned. Help ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. Respond appropriately to student behavior concerns and implement school discipline procedures consistently. Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities Collaborate with teachers, administrators, interventionists, and support staff to meet student needs. Communicate effectively with school personnel regarding instructional activities and student progress. Attend staff meetings, professional development, and required training. Maintain confidentiality of student and personnel information. Follow all district, state, and school policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by school administration. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of effective instructional practices and classroom management techniques. Ability to quickly adapt to different grade levels, classrooms, and instructional settings. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced school environment. Demonstrates professionalism, flexibility, patience, and sound judgment. Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and varying academic abilities. Proficiency with computers, Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, and educational technology platforms. English language proficiency required; bilingual skills are preferred and may be required depending on assignment.

Qualifications

Required High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working with school-aged children. Ability to supervise students and maintain a positive learning environment. Successful completion of a criminal background check. Preferred Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Valid Colorado Teacher License or Colorado Substitute Authorization. Previous experience serving as a substitute teacher, paraprofessional, instructional assistant, or classroom teacher. One or more years of experience working in a K-12 educational setting. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to move throughout the school building and campus. Ability to lift and carry instructional materials up to 25 pounds. Ability to supervise students in indoor and outdoor environments. Work Environment The In-House Substitute Teacher works in a dynamic school environment with frequent interaction with students, staff, and families. Assignments may change daily based on school needs and may include elementary, middle school, intervention classrooms, or in-school suspension. Flexibility, adaptability, and a student-centered approach are essential to success in this role. Requirements

A high school diploma and experience working with school-aged children are required, along with a successful background check. A bachelor's degree and a valid Colorado Teacher License or Substitute Authorization are preferred.
