The IDEAL School of Manhattan is seeking a motivated, responsible, and inspirational Physical Education and Health Teacher for a full-time position, starting August 2026.
Physical education and wellness are foundational to IDEAL’s holistic philosophy. All IDEAL teachers are charged with inspiring students within an inclusive, nurturing learning community. The Physical Education and Health Teacher will lead inclusive Physical Education and Health classes across divisions. All IDEAL classes include typically developing students and students with disabilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment to differentiation, adapt instruction skillfully, and implement modifications that ensure accessibility and growth for all learners.
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Physical Education (K–12) and Health curriculum designed to improve fitness, motor skills, sportsmanship, and lifelong wellness habits
Facilitate an age-appropriate, inclusive Health curriculum covering topics such as personal wellness, nutrition, mental and emotional health, social-emotional learning, and body awareness, adapted for varied cognitive and developmental levels
Modify activities, equipment, and materials to ensure physical and developmental accessibility for all students, honoring diverse learning styles and abilities
Establish and maintain safe, orderly, and encouraging learning environments grounded in positive feedback, teamwork, and mutual respect.
Partner closely with physical education colleagues, coaches, therapists, and classroom teachers to support student success and communicate program needs
Nurture the teamwork and individual skills of all students by ensuring ample opportunities to demonstrate mastery of targeted goals
In partnership with colleagues in the department, communicate program needs to the Division Head and members of the administrative team, as appropriate
Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, therapists, counselors, and administrators to ensure physical fitness goals are being met
$65,000-$85,000 (this represents the expected salary range for this position. Salary will be determined based on education, experience, and other job-related factors)
