  • Range: $23.00 - $26.45 HourlySchool-Age Childcare Lead Counselor (North Region) If you have experience working with school-age children ages 5-12 and enjoy creating engaging experiences that support their learning, development, and well-being, Associated Recreation Council (ARC) has a role for you as a School-Age Childcare Counselor at various sites in North Seattle. This is a year-round, part-time position starting ASAP. ARC, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering access to licensed childcare and a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes, and activities. In this role, the School-Age Childcare Lead Counselor will support and engage children ages 5-12 while providing day-to-day guidance to program staff. The Lead Counselor supports the School-Age Program Director in implementing the curriculum, active supervision, program routines, safety procedures, and daily program operations to ensure a safe, inclusive, engaging, and welcoming after-school environment. Our programs provide a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for children to learn, play, and grow.

Schedule

  • Part-time, non-exempt, up to 23 hr./week position during the school year; may work summers as well Monday-Friday; hours between 2:00pm-6:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; 1:00pm-6:00pm on Wednesday Schedules may vary based on availability and program needs. Lead Counselors are expected to be available 5 days per week.

  • Ensures a ratio of 1:10 (staff to children) is maintained as much as possible to ensure that children are safe and accounted for Supports the ARC School-Age Program Director with daily program operations and implementation of program expectations Collaborates with and supports fellow School-Age Childcare staff and receives guidance, coaching, and direction from the ARC School-Age

  • Experience developing and leading programs and activities such as: arts and crafts, organized games, cultural activities, drama, music, story hour, sports, and other special projects and events

Salary Range

Requirements

Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED and 1-2 years of experience in childcare or recreation. Experience leading group activities for children ages 5-12 is required.
