About the role

The counselor provides psychological evaluation, assessment, crisis intervention, and psychotherapy to undergraduate students. They are also responsible for outreach activities and making appropriate referrals for external mental health or pharmacological services.

Wilkes University invites applicants for a part-time counselor in the Wilkes University Counseling Center.

The Wilkes University Counseling Center is a part of the Division of Student Life and Academic Success.

The Wilkes University Counseling Center's primary responsibility is to provide psychological counseling services to Wilkes University undergraduate students.

The successful candidate is responsible for psychological evaluation and assessment, crisis intervention and psychotherapy.

The position may also involve outreach activities to the Wilkes University community and collaboration with various support services within the University.

The counselor will be responsible for making appropriate referrals for psychopharmacological evaluation and external ongoing counseling, and for referral to emergency mental health services, when appropriate.

Time spent among the various clinical service activities might shift according to changes in service demands at any given time.

A Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work, with a Pennsylvania license, is required.

Strongly preferred 5+ years' experience and competency in crisis assessment, evaluation and treatment; psychotherapy; working with college-aged clients; demonstrated success in working effectively in an interdisciplinary team setting; and must work well with students identifying as LGBTQA+, international students, and other under-represented students and communities on campus.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
