About the role

The primary responsibility is to teach Surgical Technology courses, typically two per term. Additional duties include providing academic advising to students and assisting the Program Director with department training and graduation activities.

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic faculty member to teach in our Surgical Technology program.

This is a part-time, professional position reporting directly to the Program Director.

The primary responsibility will be to teach Surgical Technology courses.

The typical teaching load is two courses each term.

Applicants will also be expected to provide academic advising to students, assist the program director, and participate in department training, meetings, and graduation.

Skills/Competencies/Qualifications

  • Is a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency
  • Possesses a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA)
  • Minimum of 3 years of significant program-related/industry experience in the ST scrub role or as an ST instructor or both within the last five years.
  • A minimum of an associate’s degree is required. A bachelor degree or higher is preferred and may be required in some states.
  • Postsecondary teaching experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree required
  • Certification in MBSTSA
  • At least three years of experience in the field of Surgical Technology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized, motivated and results driven
  • Prior teaching experience preferred

Requirements

Candidates must have an associate degree, a national certification in surgical technology, and at least three years of industry experience. Prior postsecondary teaching experience and a bachelor's degree are preferred.
