The Engagement Coordinator monitors student academic progress and coordinates support services to ensure success in an online learning environment. They serve as the primary link between families and the school to strengthen educational partnerships and implement academic interventions.

Job Description

The Title I Engagement Coach supports academic engagement and family-school partnerships for students. This role focuses on monitoring academic progress, coordinating support services, and helping families strengthen their involvement in the educational process. Through ongoing communication and proactive engagement strategies, the Engagement Coach ensures students receive the academic support, connection, and guidance needed to be successful in the online learning environment.

Residency Requirement: Must reside in Ohio

Licensure and Certification

Must hold a valid or have the ability to obtain an Ohio license, such as an Ohio Teaching License, Pupil Services License, School Counseling License, or Educational Aide Permit. The school may accept other Ohio educator credentials that meet state regulations and are suitable for work in student academic support roles.

The Title I Engagement Coach supports academic engagement and family-school partnerships for students. This role focuses on monitoring academic progress, coordinating support services, and helping families strengthen their involvement in the educational process. Through ongoing communication and proactive engagement strategies, the Engagement Coach ensures students receive the academic support, connection, and guidance needed to be successful in the online learning environment.

Essential Functions

Academic Engagement Monitoring

Maintain a caseload of students and monitor course pacing, activity, assignment completion, and academic progress.

Identify early signs of academic decline and initiate academic interventions.

Conduct consistent check-ins with students and Learning Coaches regarding academic expectations and progress.

Family Partnership & Student Support

Serve as a central point of communication for families regarding curriculum, grading, and school expectations.

Provide training and guidance to help families support learning routines and academic habits.

Follow up with families responding to Students First Check-In surveys to deliver personalized support.

Intervention Coordination

Arrange academic support conferences with teachers and counselors when students demonstrate academic risk.

Assist students in creating individualized academic improvement plans aligned with MTSS and Title I supports.

Coordinate referrals to tutoring, supplemental instruction, or other academic resources.

Engagement & Community-Building

Encourage participation in virtual school events and enrichment opportunities.

Promote student involvement in activities that foster connection, attendance in live sessions, and academic engagement.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated based on effectiveness in supporting academic engagement, accuracy in monitoring student progress, quality of family communication, coordination of academic interventions, collaboration with instructional staff, and adherence to Title I requirements and school policies.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • State of Ohio Resident
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 or more years in education experience
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time to administer state assessments and attend in person professional development.
  • Must hold a valid or have the ability to obtain an Ohio license, such as an Ohio Teaching License, Pupil Services License, School Counseling License, or Educational Aide Permit. The school may accept other Ohio educator credentials that meet state regulations and are suitable for work in student academic support roles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Web proficiency;
  • Familiarity with the online learning experience;
  • Ability to pass required background check.
  • Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced work environment;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent problem-solving skills and organizational skills.
