About the role

Assist the Sports Director and Coordinator in developing and implementing youth and adult sports programs. Provide leadership to participants and volunteers while maintaining equipment and accurate program records.

Under the direction of the Sports Director and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA of Greenville, the Sports Assistant will assist in the development and success of the Youth and/or Adult Sports programs in the community.

Responsibilities

Assist the Sports Coordinator and Director with development and the implementation of programs within the Sports Department. Assist the Sports Coordinator and Director with providing leadership and excellence in program service and delivery, through proper training, evaluation and promotion of programs. Assist the Sports Coordinator and Director with monitoring and maintaining accurate records as it relates to all program areas. Assist the Sports Coordinator and Director with giving guidance and direction to sports participants and volunteers. Assist the Sports Coordinator and Director with maintenance of equipment and inventory and program areas. Develops relationships for the advancement and promotion of the YMCA Sports Program. Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers Attend/complete required abuse risk management training Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers Follow mandated reporting requirements Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities

Qualifications

Knowledge of recreation, physical education or some related field or equivalent work experience. Minimum six months experience. Experience working with youth of all ages. Knowledge of the following sports: baseball, basketball, football, track& field, and soccer, e.g., rules, field dimensions, lining fields, etc. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Possess skills in relationship building e.g. excellent communication skills. Have a full understanding of YMCA philosophy and live, work and perform work duties in a manner consistent with such. Referee experience. Coaching experience.

Requirements

Requires at least six months of experience working with youth and knowledge of various sports rules and field dimensions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong relationship-building skills are necessary.
