About the role

Provide direct one-on-one or small group instructional services to students with autism under the supervision of a certified teacher. Support students' communication, socialization, and academic skills while collecting performance data and implementing IEPs.

The salary for this position is as follows

Day School - 5- 21 years old

Certified Level 1 Teacher Assistant = $21.00

Certified Level 2 Teacher Assistant = $22.00

Certified Level 3 Teacher Assistant = $24.00

Preschool - 2-4 years old

Certified Level 1 Teacher Assistant = $21.00

Certified Level 2 Teacher Assistant = $22.00

Certified Level 3 Teacher Assistant = $24.00

QSAC pursues this mission through direct services that provide a supportive and individualized setting for children and adults with autism to improve their communication, socialization, academic, and functional skills

Job Summary

QSAC is seeking dedicated and energetic Certified Teacher's Assistants, who provide direct instructional services to students under the general supervision of a New York State certified teacher. The role focuses on one-on-one or small group instruction as outlined by the supervising teacher. Teaching Assistants support students’ recreation, motor, vocational, socialization and communication, leisure and motor skills through the use of behavior analytic teaching procedures.

Additional job responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Guiding and assisting students in various instruction settings and class routines
  • Collecting data documenting student performance
  • Under teacher direction, implementing student's Individual Education Plans (IEP)s and Behavior Intervention plans (when applicable)
  • Work Experience and Qualification
  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • 3 letters of recommendation required upon hire for preschool candidates
  • 1-2 years’ work experience is a school setting is preferred
  • Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20 lb. items
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others and individuals served
