Job Description

Position Summary

Wentworth Institute of Technology’s Co-ops & Careers department is looking for a Co-op & Career Advisor (CCA) to join our Integrated Advising Collaborative (IAC). In this role, you’ll work as part of a coordinated advising team, alongside Academic and Faculty Advisors, to help students build career readiness skills, connect their academic experience to professional pathways, and successfully complete Wentworth’s cooperative education requirement.

Cooperative Education is the cornerstone of a Wentworth undergraduate degree. All undergraduate students must complete two co-op semesters as a graduation requirement, and your work will directly support their success in that process.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Career Advising
  • Provide individualized and group advising on topics such as, but not limited to career exploration and goal setting, resume, cover letter, portfolio development, interview preparation, job search strategies, networking, etc.
  • Help students articulate skills, experiences, and goals
  • Deliver career readiness content workshops and programming
  • 2. Co-op Support
  • Prepare students for participation in co-op, including teaching a co-op preparation course
  • Guide students through identifying, applying for, and securing co-op opportunities
  • Track student progress toward co-op eligibility and maintain accurate records
  • Provide coaching throughout the co-op search and decision-making process
  • 3. Integrated Advising
  • Collaborate closely with Academic and Faculty Advisors to provide coordinated, holistic student support
  • Participate in joint advising meetings, case reviews, and shared student success planning
  • Contribute to consistent advising through shared documentation and aligned outreach

4. Student Engagement Across the Lifecycle • First Year

  • Introduce career exploration and early engagement opportunities
  • Second
  • Year: Deliver co-op preparation programming
  • Third
  • Year: Support students during co-op, review evaluations, and facilitate reflection
  • Fourth
  • Year: Provide advanced job search and career transition support
  • 5. Student Support & Case Management
  • Identify students who need additional support and provide timely outreach
  • Participate in at-risk student case reviews within the IAC
  • Provide timely outreach in response to alerts, progress reports, and advising triggers
  • Connect students with appropriate campus resources
  • 6. Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate, timely advising records in institutional systems
  • Uphold advising standards for response time, documentation and engagement
  • 7. School & Faculty Partnership
  • Serve as an embedded advisor within assigned academic school(s)
  • Build relationships with faculty and academic leadership
  • Align advising with curriculum and program-specific pathways
  • 8. Professional Development & Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in required IAC training and professional development activities
  • Stay current on workforce trends, recruiting practices, and career technologies
  • Contribute to assessment and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in career advising, co-op programs or student support
  • Strong coaching, communication, and collaboration skills

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related field
  • Experience in experiential learning or cooperative education models
  • Familiarity with advising or CRM platforms (e.g., Navigate, Symplicity)

Position Details

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a 37.5-hour work week. The role is based in Boston and follows a hybrid work model, with the specific schedule determined by business needs.

At this time, the university is unable to sponsor applicants for H-1B visas.

The job grade for this position is Grade 7.

The expected salary for this position is between $71,000.00 - $85,000.00 which reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role.
