The Early Education Support Specialist assists classroom teachers by providing academic and emotional support to students aged 3-12. Responsibilities include leading small group activities, preparing instructional materials, and supervising students during daily school routines.

  • 🌟 What You’ll Do As a Teacher Assistant, you’ll be an essential partner in the classroom—helping students ages 3–12 grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Working closely with a classroom teacher and under the guidance of the principal, you’ll bring learning to life through hands‑on support and meaningful interactions. Your daily impact will include:
  • Supporting individual students or small groups to reinforce lessons
  • Guiding independent study, enrichment, and remedial activities
  • Assisting with grading, prepping materials, and organizing classroom tools
  • Helping lead group activities and school‑wide events
  • Preparing supplies and instructional resources for daily learning
  • Supervising students during lunch, recess, field trips, and special events
  • Participating in professional development to sharpen your skills
  • Pitching in wherever needed to keep the classroom running smoothly

🎓 Education Requirements You must meet one of the following

  • 60+ college credit hours
  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • Passing score on the Missouri ParaPro or Paraprofessional Assessment
  • Completion of Missouri’s online Substitute Training Program
  • Valid Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate
  • Approval by the Board of Education
