About the role

The Second Grade Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, Christ-centered instruction across core subjects while fostering the academic, spiritual, and social development of students. ABOUT US.

Lenawee Christian Ministries provides Christ-centered education, spiritual development, and wellness services to the Lenawee County community, centered around Jesus Christ. The ministry is made up of two operating entities: Lenawee Christian School and the Christian Family Centre, located in Adrian, MI.

Lenawee Christian School exists in partnership with the family and church to integrate Biblical truth for life with a commitment to glorifying Jesus Christ through academic excellence and spiritual maturity.

The Christian Family Centre is a world-class fitness and family activity facility that strives to assist families and individuals grow in their physical, social, and spiritual wellness with Jesus Christ being the center.

Position summary.

The Second Grade Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality, Christ-centered instruction that supports the academic, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical development of students. This role creates a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment where students are encouraged to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ while developing foundational skills necessary for future academic success.

The Second Grade Teacher partners with parents, colleagues, and administration to cultivate a love for learning, strong character, and a biblical worldview through daily instruction and classroom interactions.

Compensation is commiserate to experience and will be matched to our teacher salary scale.

Key responsibilities.

Instruction & Curriculum Delivery

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Bible, and other assigned subjects.

Utilize a variety of instructional methods and learning activities to meet the diverse needs of students.

Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate support and enrichment opportunities.

Incorporate technology and hands-on learning experiences when appropriate.

Student Learning & Assessment

Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments.

Maintain accurate academic records, grades, and progress reports.

Utilize assessment data to guide instruction and support student growth.

Identify students requiring additional academic support and collaborate with Educational Support Services staff as appropriate.

Classroom Environment & Student Development

Establish and maintain a safe, structured, and Christ-centered classroom environment.

Foster positive relationships and encourage respectful behavior, responsibility, and self-discipline.

Support students' spiritual, social, emotional, and academic growth.

Supervise students during assigned duties and school activities.

Parent Communication & Collaboration

Maintain consistent and professional communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.

Conduct parent-teacher conferences and collaborate with families to support student success.

Respond to parent inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities

Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, and administration to support student achievement and school initiatives.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, curriculum planning, and school improvement efforts.

Maintain professional growth through ongoing learning and training opportunities.

Mission Integration

Integrate Biblical truth and a Christian worldview throughout instruction and classroom activities.

Model Christ-centered character, servant leadership, and spiritual maturity.

Encourage students in their faith development and understanding of God's purpose for their lives.

Qualifications.

Christian Faith & Character

Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Exhibit a consistent Christian testimony and adherence to biblical principles in personal and professional life.

Demonstrate spiritual maturity, humility, and a strong commitment to excellence and servant leadership

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, or related field required, Master's preferred.

Valid state teaching certification required.

ACSI teaching certification, or the ability to obtain.

Prior teaching experience in elementary education strongly preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

Strong understanding of early childhood development and instructional practices.

Ability to create engaging, structured, and nurturing learning environments.

Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

Effective communication and relationship-building skills with students and parents.

Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.

Employment terms.

This position is classified as full-time, salaried, exempt and follows an annual teacher contract aligned to the academic calendar.

Compensation is structured as an annual salary paid over twelve (12) months, with payroll processed on a semi-monthly basis.

The role follows the academic year, with responsibilities including instruction, supervision, and participation in required school activities.

Regular, reliable, and on-site attendance is required.

Employment is at-will and contingent upon adherence to Lenawee Christian School’s Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Commitment.

Compensation offer will be matched to our teacher salary scale based upon education and years of experience.
