About the role

The After Care Coordinator assists in the implementation of the after-school program by organizing activities and supervising students to ensure a safe environment. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate attendance records and communicating effectively with parents and school staff.

The Aftercare Coordinator assists in the after-school care program for students at Divine Savior Academy, providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. The After Care Coordinator is responsible for planning activities and communicating effectively with parents and school leadership.

Duties

  • Assists the after-school care staff and paraeducators in the implementation of the after-school care program
  • Organizes children into groups for supervision and activities
  • Participates in after school care activities, and is actively involved with the children
  • Supervises children in after school care, ensuring a safe environment
  • Implements and follows the schedule of after school care activities
  • Tracks children signed into after school care
  • Ensures that all children who come to after school care are signed in
  • Ensures that children are released only to those that are authorized
  • Maintains careful records of the times that children are present in after school care and the caregiver that each child was released to
  • Builds strong relationships with students, parents, families, and colleagues
  • Engages in appropriate and beneficial teacher-child interactions
  • Communicates regularly and effectively
  • Collaborates with other after school care staff in a positive and beneficial way
  • Contributes to team-building exercises with staff

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Early Childhood or Elementary Education coursework, training, or experience (formal college education is preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills including oral, written, and interpersonal
  • Ability to work proficiently in a diverse and multicultural setting
  • Capability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and families
  • Attention to detail
  • Exemplary Christian role model who lets his or her “light shine”
  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to participate in physical activities with students
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds (e.g., assisting with setting up activities or moving equipment).
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods during the aftercare hours
