Monday through
Friday and run from approximately 8:15am through 12:30pm. Three and four year old classes are offered.
The Preschool Teacher Substitute is responsible for assisting and carrying out the daily plans which includes conducting lessons and activities to promote students’ social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth.
Substitute Teachers will be paired in a classroom with another Preschool Teacher at all times. Assist and carry out the planned classroom activities within guidelines of curriculum and Illinois State Board of Education Early Childhood Learning Standards. Provide and maintain a neat, organized classroom, taking responsibility for upkeep of equipment and supplies. Setup classroom with developmentally appropriate manipulatives and dramatic play areas. Establish parent communication through conversations by encouraging a home to school connection through nurturing, positive relationships. Communicate matters of importance to the Preschool Director in a timely manner. Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Preschool Staff Handbook and in accordance with District policy. Maintain knowledge of how to work with children of varying ability levels. Implement safety and risk management procedures as applicable to the recreation operation and District policy. Uphold customer service standards in accordance with recreation operation and District policy. Other duties as assigned by Preschool Director and Program Manager.

Education: 2 years of college/Associate’s Degree or experience in a preschool classroom setting. Early Childhood, Elementary Education or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Requires the completion of minimum employment standards established by the Department of Children and Family Services and experience or background in activity programming and leadership of children.
CPR and First Aid Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a reference check and criminal background check.
