Position Overview: We are looking for a full-time teacher to instruct Upper School English for students in grades 6-12.

Candidates should be able to fulfill the physical demands of the position, which may include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs, supervising students actively, and riding school buses or vans. Consider the following: GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To help students learn subject matter and skills which will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible Christian men and women. Responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating instruction based upon specific goals and objectives established by Grove Christian School which follows the principles of the Association of Christian School International and the Virginia Standards of Learning. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.) ● Demonstrates mastery of content area; ● Integrate God's Word and its principles into daily instruction; ● Prepares daily instruction and activities using the Grove Christian School's curriculum to assigned classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisors; ● Assesses students' learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs; ● Develops summative tests of students' learning and uses results for further student instruction, grading, and placement; ● Develops and maintains a favorable psychological and physical environment that is conducive to effective learning; ● Maintains order and encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior within the classroom setting in accordance with Grove Christian School's guidelines regarding pupil behavior management. ● Selects and utilizes materials appropriate to the students' instructional levels; ● Organizes learning activities to achieve specific concepts; ● Attends and participates in Grove School School in-service training programs, faculty meetings; ● Attend daily Faculty/Staff Devotions fostering a supportive community; ● Establishes friendly and cooperative relationships between the home and the school; ● Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relations with others; ● Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence; ● Respects the home responsibility of parents/guardians for their children; ● Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities; ● Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, Grove Christian School policy and administrative regulations; ● Performs other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the Grove Christian School policies and practices.
KSA's, Education KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Comprehensive knowledge of: modern practices, techniques, and methods of teaching; the principles of educational testing and principles and methods of remedial education; effective means of supervision and instruction; the principles and methods of educational research. Excellent written and oral communication skills. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in English.
