Early Intervention Specialist

Conducts intakes and screenings for children referred for early intervention services in a timely and professional manner. Performs developmental Evaluation and assessments accurately in all areas, using formal and informal testing methods, in order to establish eligibility and developmental needs. Participates as a collaborative team member for the Development of an Individualized Family Service Plan. Follows Provision of Specialized Skills Training as outlined in the IFSP. Follows Provision of Service Coordination as outlined in the IFSP, in accordance with ECI policy. Follows Provision of direct services to families in accordance with ECI of LifePath Systems productivity standards. Meets timeframes in accordance with LifePath Systems ECI Program. Experience (including licensure and certification)

Minimum: Hold a bachelor’s degree which includes a minimum of 18 hours of course credit relevant to Early Childhood Intervention including 3 hours of semester credit in early childhood development or early childhood special education. Must complete, or have completed, the credentialing process to become a Fully Qualified Early Intervention Specialist within one year of hire. Must complete required hours for continuing professional education and ethics as discipline applicable. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of typical and atypical child development and childhood disabilities, birth to three. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of team and family dynamics. Ability to contribute discipline specific skills as a disciplinary representative on an interdisciplinary team which includes parents/caregivers, and other professional staff. Ability to perform under minimal supervision with considerable requirements for initiative, discretion, independent thought, judgment, and self-motivation in matters of significance to families as well as the agency. Well-developed interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, time management /organization skills, and basic computer skills. Ability to comprehend and adhere to current ECI intervention practices. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
