The instructor will provide meaningful Spanish instruction for grades 9-12 using innovative, research-based, and inquiry-based teaching methods. They are responsible for creating differentiated lessons, maintaining accurate student records, and fostering a nurturing, student-centered learning environment.

Description Established in 1972, Mount Vernon School serves over 1,250 students in Preschool through Grade 12 on our 40-acre Atlanta campus. Grounded in Christian values, Mount Vernon prepares all students to be college-ready, globally competitive, and engaged citizen leaders. Mount Vernon School anchors the Mount Vernon Organization as a destination of inquiry, innovation, and impact. The Team The Upper School Faculty are a collaborative and forward-thinking community of education professionals who are consistently looking for ways to create real-world, project-based experiences that help their students connect content in a relevant and impactful way.

While they customize and personalize the learning for each course, this team is united in using an inquiry-based model and a mastery approach to teaching.

The Role Mount Vernon School seeks an innovative and collaborative Upper School World Language teacher (Spanish).

Candidates should be passionate about world languages and cultures in order to promote the mindsets and dispositions of an inclusive community focused on global citizenship.

Versatility, collaboration, and openness to innovative instructional practices are essential.

Availability to sponsor athletic, artistic, or academic teams/clubs is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide meaningful instruction in Grades 9-12 Spanish using a variety of research-based and innovative teaching methods Create well-planned nine-week units with a focus on problem-solving, and application Create differentiated lessons to match the needs of each student in the classroom Connect real-world learning with world language, both in instruction and practice Timely maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records of each student's performance and progress & communication with students/families pertaining to progress Care and nurture for the social and emotional needs of each student Maintenance of an organized, inviting, and student-centered learning environment Participation in duties (e.g. lunch, enrichment and carpool) and others as assigned Possess strong character with an absolute drive for excellence, a team-oriented spirit, and a commitment to meeting the learning and social-emotional needs of students Core Competencies Culturally proficient & equity literate Ability to cultivate respectful and affirming environments A track record of giving high-quality, Responsive Feedback Understanding of Competency-Based Assessment/Mastery Approach to Learning Proficiency in Google Suite & Mac/Apple OS
