About the role

The Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for young children. They ensure classroom activities align with Head Start performance standards and state regulatory requirements.

5-year goals 2024-2029 In 2024 HSYC was awarded a five-year grant to continue offering program services.

These are our five-year goals: Goal #1: HSYC implements Conscious Discipline to support the social emotional needs/ self-regulation of the HSYC community.

Goal #2: All children, regardless of family situation, will have strong attendance that will carryover after HSYC participation.

Goal #3: HSYC will be known for providing high quality, comprehensive services for school and life readiness through a unique two-generation approach.

Goal #4: Hire and retain individuals who are committed to the true HSYC mission and philosophy and who understand the need to be trauma-informed and relationship-based in an early childhood program.

General Description: The Teacher Assistant position will assist the Teacher in planning, preparation and implementation of a safe and developmentally appropriate classroom curriculum for up to 18, three, four- and five-year-old children.

The Teacher Assistant works in collaboration with the Lead Teacher and Aide to provide comprehensive, responsive lessons that focus on all areas of development including: social-emotional, physical, language, literacy, cognitive and math.

This role will also support with the compliance in Head Start Performance Standards, HSYC Policies and Procedures as well as Oregon Department of Learning and Care (DELC) Standards.
