The After School Counselor creates a safe and fun environment for children ages 4 to 12 while modeling YMCA character values. They are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and ensuring the social, physical, and mental development of the children.
The Missoula Family Y is hiring after school counselors! If you are friendly, creative and reliable, and want to make a difference in kids' lives this could be a great fit for you. The hours are Monday-Friday, 3-6pm, 2:15-6pm on Thursday, preferably at least three (3) shifts per week. The After School Counselor is enthusiastic and creates a safe, fun environment for children ages 4 years through 12 and will teach and model YMCA character values and sportsmanship. Under the guidance of the School Age Assoc. Director and onsite lead counselors, the After School Counselor is responsible for providing and implementing a high quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum in specific program areas, ensuring children’s social, physical, spiritual and mental development in the program. Applicants must like working with children, be self-motivated, good communicators. They must be able to thrive in an environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit community service organization and work with general supervision. Complete required child abuse prevention training, follow all abuse prevention and risk management policies, maintain appropriate boundaries, supervise responsibly, and fulfill all legal and ethical duties as a mandatory reporter by promptly reporting and cooperating with any investigations of suspected abuse or policy violations.
