The Instructor I - Youth Sports plays a vital role in fostering the physical, social, and emotional development of children through organized sports activities.

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading youth sports programs that promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles.

The instructor will create a safe and inclusive environment where children of diverse backgrounds and abilities can learn fundamental sports skills and build confidence.

By engaging with participants, parents, and community members, the instructor helps cultivate a positive recreational experience that encourages lifelong participation in physical activity.

Ultimately, this role contributes to the community’s well-being by supporting youth development through structured sports education and mentorship.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 16+ years old
  • Experience working with children in sports or recreational settings.
  • Basic knowledge of youth sports (dance, gymnastics, t-ball, soccer, volleyball, basketball, etc.) rules, techniques, and safety practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with child safety regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in youth sports coaching or related field.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience in organizing community sports programs or events.
  • Knowledge of multiple sports disciplines.
  • Previous experience working in a diverse community environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement age-appropriate sports training sessions and activities for youth participants.
  • Teach fundamental skills, rules, and strategies of various sports while emphasizing fair play and respect.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by enforcing safety guidelines and monitoring equipment use.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and program coordinators regarding participant progress and program updates.
  • Assist in organizing sports events, competitions, and community outreach initiatives to promote youth engagement.
