The Graduate Assistant will facilitate student growth in undergraduate nursing programs by coaching students in didactic and psychomotor skills within classrooms and labs. They will also support simulation experiences, conduct remediation sessions, and assist faculty with lab documentation and quality improvement.

The University of St. Mary (USM) School of Nursing hires Graduate Assistants (GAs) to assist with the undergraduate nursing programs. GA's are involved in helping to facilitate students' growth and progress in knowledge and skills through interactions in the classroom, lab, and simulation experiences under the guidance and supervision of credentialed faculty.

Coaches undergraduate Nursing students in the acquisition of didactic, psychomotor, and physical assessment skills following lesson plans designed by course faculty.
Assesses student performance of physical assessment and psychomotor skills using behavioral checklist provided by the faculty.
Provides student didactic and psychomotor skills remediation sessions as required.
Supports simulation experiences and laboratory activities. Includes setup, running, breakdown, and debriefing learners as needed.
Collaborates with clinical faculty to assist with lab sessions.
Collaborates with Simulation lab coordinator on continuous quality improvement efforts for following best practices in simulation as well as instructing, coaching and learning.
Facilitates student learning during scheduled and open lab hours, and tutoring sessions.
Reviews course content to be expert facilitator of sessions.
Promotes learner engagement by fostering realistic learning environments.
Always models nursing professionalism.
Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint).
Attends mandatory Simulation orientation and meetings with faculty members.
Assists with preparation of, reviews and suggests edits for all Simulation and laboratory documentation (printed and online) and related tasks as needed.
Adheres to all nursing policies and procedures noted in the policy and procedure document.
Assists with Division of Nursing events as directed.
Maintains record of student attendance at all sessions.
Other duties as assigned.
