About the role

The tutor is responsible for providing academic support and homework assistance while ensuring a safe and positive environment for students. They will also facilitate enrichment activities and maintain accurate documentation of student attendance and incidents.

School Information

Four Points Preparatory Academy is a tuition-free public charter school in Braselton serving students in grades K-6. We shape instruction to build on the strengths and abilities of each student and integrate Moral Focus™ lessons into every school day. As a result, our students are well-prepared from kindergarten through eighth grade. A Stanford University study found National Heritage Academies partner-school students gained the equivalent of 3.5 months of additional learning each year compared to peers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment for all students.
  • Actively supervise students and ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Model positive, proactive attitudes, behaviors, and respectful language.
  • Maintain professional, age-appropriate communication, behavior, and attire at all times.
  • Communicate regularly with the After School Program Director to ensure consistency and alignment with program expectations.
  • Provide homework assistance and academic support to program participants.
  • Facilitate and support academic instruction using the curriculum and skill-building activities provided by the After School Program Director.
  • Clearly communicate directions and expectations for assigned activities and coursework.
  • Plan and lead engaging enrichment, recreational, and physical activities that promote student participation and learning.
  • Encourage and support students in developing the academic, social, and life skills needed for success.
  • Ensure classrooms, shared spaces, and program equipment are clean, organized, and properly maintained.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and complete required documentation, including incident reporting, in accordance with the After School Program Handbook.
  • Complete assigned responsibilities and meet established deadlines consistently.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working in an after-school program, childcare, school, or youth-focused setting preferred.
  • Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and support their academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively with students and staff.
  • Ability to meet all required background check and employment requirements.
