Position Summary

POSITION OVERVIEW The Integrated Education and Training (IET) Instructor is responsible for delivering a concurrent model of instruction that combines adult basic education (literacy, numeracy, and English language skills) with specific occupational skills training. The incumbent will work closely with adult education staff, content area instructors and programs, and workforce partners to ensure students gain the academic foundation and technical certifications necessary for timely entry into the workforce. This position is grant-funded, term-limited, and future employment is dependent on funding.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Plan and deliver contextualized lessons that bridge foundational academic skills (HiSET/Adult Literacy) with the specific requirements of the content area curriculum. Collaborate with content area instructors to align a Single Set of Learning Objectives (SSLO) and ensure students are supported in both theory and hands-on application. Facilitate workforce preparation activities, including resume building, interview techniques, and development of soft-skills relevant to the industry. Monitor student progress toward credentials and provide targeted interventions to improve and increase retention and completion rates. Maintain accurate and timely records in the Literacy, Adult and Community Education System (LACES) to include the compiling of necessary data reports for the department, ensuring all student data is compliant with state and federal reporting standards. Prepare periodic quantitative and qualitative reports on classroom instructional outcomes for program and institutional assessment purposes. Administer and record standardized assessments (TABE) to document Measurable Skill Gains (MSGs). Track and report student transitions into employment or further post-secondary education, ensuring all performance indicators are met according to the IET program plan in accordance with departmental needs. Assists in developing class instruction schedules and instructing classes at all available locations to include but not limited to LCC Las Vegas Campus, Santa Rosa, Springer, Mora and other locations as designated by the department. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of adult learning theory, curriculum development and classroom, and best practices Knowledge of advising/coaching methods and techniques Ability to perform research methodology and information resources related to general studies Basic supervisory and coaching principles and practices Ability to supervise students in career and academic planning Ability to prepare and present classroom lectures in multiple media formats Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to effectively use various computer platforms to include but not limited to the Google suite, Microsoft Office suite and other platforms used by the department. Ability to travel to various site locations on a regular basis as needed by department. Strong organizational and communication (oral and written) skills WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL FACTORS Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The worker sits most of the time. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Sociology, or content-specific field is required (or must be within 1 year of graduation/program completion). One year of full-time teaching or practicing experience in the designated field is required Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sociology, or a related field is required, along with one year of teaching or professional experience. Candidates must also possess a valid driver's license and the ability to travel to multiple campus locations.
