About the role

The Care Team member assists instructional personnel by tutoring students, presenting learning materials, and supervising classroom activities. They also support the social-emotional development of students and maintain an orderly, stimulating learning environment.

The opportunity (Position overview)

As a Care Team member, you will perform a variety of instructional activities, assist in the delivery of learning experiences within specific areas of study, and perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel.

What you will do (Duties and responsibilities)

Assist instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials and in the presentation of instructional lessons.

Tutor individual students and small groups of students to reinforce and follow up learning activities, as directed by the teacher or Principal.

Monitor and assist students in learning activities as a follow up to the presentation of instructional concepts by instructional personnel.

Direct and supervise students in safe learning activities, and assist in the shaping of appropriate social emotional behaviors.

Reinforce the social emotional curriculum and instruction.

Prepare and assist in the preparation of a variety of instructional materials for use with individuals, or small groups of students or in a learning center.

Operate and assist students in the operation of a variety of instructional media, office machines and equipment, and vocational and career educational equipment.

Monitor resource and learning centers and assist students with the use of center equipment and in the remediation of specific learning problems.

Assist with providing extra curriculum support to at-promise learners to fill learning gaps.

Assist with the administration of a variety of assessments.

Administer routine first aid and request appropriate assistance for serious injury or illness.

Maintain or assist in maintaining orderly, attractive and stimulating learning environments.

Participate, as requested, in parent conferences.

Attend to the physical and health needs of learners.

Assist with the transportation of learners to/from learning and play environments.

Perform other responsibilities as defined by the designated supervisor

Essential functions

Communicating with others to exchange information. (In Person/Telephone/Computer)

Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.

When needed to support a school or education program, must have the ability to travel by public transit as well as operate a vehicle for self-transportation purposes between worksites.

Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.

May encounter outdoor elements: high (>90)/low (<60) temperatures, precipitation and/or wind.

Ability to work in situations involving the need to make informed and quick decisions.

Ability to supervise/manage workers and delegate as needed in project management situations.

Reading detailed documentation and analyzing data sets.

Writing professionally, both by hand and utilizing computer software.

Speaking in public settings including making public presentations to large and small groups.

Dealing and navigating professionally through high-stress situations.

What you will bring (Qualifications)

High School diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates without a postsecondary degree must pass a basic skills assessment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.

Exceptional public speaking skills.

High level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness.
