About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher in Chittenden County to collaborate with classroom teachers and clinical staff in planning and implementing academic, social, and behavioral programming tailored to each student's unique needs. In this role, you will help coordinate education and mental health treatments, serving as a primary point of person for public school partners regarding IEPs, evaluations, and overall case management. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Accommodation: Collaborate with teachers to plan curriculum, adapt materials, and develop academic and environmental accommodations for both individual and classroom settings. IEP Management: Lead the development, implementation, and facilitation of IEPs, trimester reviews, and evaluation planning meetings to support special education eligibility and student progress. Student & Teacher Support: Mentor classroom teachers on differentiated instruction while building strong, therapeutic relationships with students to foster problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Assessment & Integration: Utilize informal assessments and diagnostic teaching to monitor student growth and facilitate smooth integration into public school settings.

Qualifications &

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.

Licensure

Active Vermont Teaching License in Special Education.

Experience

Background in Special Education, specifically supporting students with significant social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Skills

Proficient in IEP development, administering/interpreting assessments, and adapting instructional materials.

Transportation

Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.

Background

Check: Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check. Physical Demands & Working Conditions Ability to safely manage escalated student behaviors and routinely move up to 75 lbs. Ability to drive and accompany students off-site on field trips. Manual dexterity for repetitive tasks and capability to sit for extended periods. Benefits &
