Work collaboratively with school personnel and be able to communicate effectively Design and implement an appropriate curriculum for all content areas for special education students while providing necessary accommodations and modifications to the curriculum. Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners. Assess student’s performance levels, learning styles, strengths and weaknesses, and develop appropriate goals and objectives. Measure and evaluate student progress. Participate in the IEP process.
The ideal candidate will Hold a NC Teaching License in Exceptional Children (EC) Have a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Special Education Have teaching experience to include working with children with special needs Be a strong classroom manager. Salary based on the NC Certified Teacher Salary Schedule, years of experience, and licensure status A possible 3% local supplement Employer matching contributions of up to 6% to a 403(b) retirement plan 10 PTO days per year, with unused PTO rolling over to the following year until the maximum accrual is reached Paid holidays Employer-paid medical insurance premium plan Employer-funded short-term and long-term disability coverage
All teachers at DCA are on one year contracts. Contract renewal is contingent upon successful performance, completion of duties and expectations, as well as funding.
Candidates must hold a North Carolina Teaching License in Exceptional Children and possess at least a bachelor's degree in Special Education. Strong classroom management skills and previous experience working with children with special needs are required.
