  • Range: $24.00 - $32.00 HourlyThe Harker School is seeking a Spanish-speaking Teacher Aide for our 4th and 5th grade Spanish classes during the 2026–27 academic year. This is a part-time, temporary position expected to continue through at least the end of December 2026, with the possibility of extension.

  • Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The aide reports to the assigned classroom teacher and supports the instructional process in the manner the teacher determines to be most effective. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English. Must have experience working with children, preferably students in grades 4–5. Must hold current first aid and CPR certifications or complete training provided by The Harker School. Must be able to communicate and work effectively with students of varying ages and skill levels. Must possess strong reading, writing, and numeracy skills. Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain a positive attitude and help foster a nurturing, respectful environment that supports children’s development. Serve as a positive adult role model and bring leadership, energy, and enthusiasm to interactions with students. Engage students in a healthy, safe, and inspiring learning environment. Build appropriate, professional relationships with students. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor when working with supervisors, colleagues, parents, students, and other members of The Harker School community. Attend required school training related to students’ emotional and social development. Model appropriate attendance, punctuality, dress, language, work ethic, and behavior. Attend required meetings and employee-student interaction training. Classroom Responsibilities Assist grade 4–5 classroom teachers with instruction Support students’ academic needs as identified and outlined by the classroom teacher. Help prepare instructional materials and implement daily lesson plans under the teacher’s direction. Proactively support students who are having difficulty focusing on a lesson or learning the material. Maintain a collaborative relationship with the classroom teacher and remain focused on helping students learn. Maintain open communication with the classroom teacher and promptly report concerns to the supervising teacher or division head. Assist with occasional clerical tasks as needed, while keeping direct work with students as the primary responsibility. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and under the guidance of a supervisor. Ability to contribute effectively as part of a team. Self-motivated, dependable, and proactive. Adaptable to change and able to manage multiple situations and responsibilities. Strong time-management and prioritization skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, email, and Microsoft Outlook. Ability to observe student behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce safety rules and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental or other job-related hazards. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid or other emergency assistance. Compensation

Pay for this position is determined according to The Harker School's established pay scale and is based on relevant education and experience, as evaluated by the Human Resources Department. The posted pay range reflects the full pay scale for this position. While the maximum rate is included for transparency, most new hires can expect to fall within the lower to middle portion of the pay scale based on their qualifications and experience.

Requirements

Candidates must be at least 18 years old, fluent in both Spanish and English, and have experience working with children. Additionally, they must hold or be willing to obtain first aid and CPR certifications.
