Duties and Responsibilities

Policies and Procedures Maintain confidentiality of residents, resident family members, coworkers, and Immanuel Living Understand and support the philosophy, policies, and standards of Immanuel Living and Maintain quality of resident care, including compliance with Facility policies and procedures, and State and Federal guidelines Follow facility and department policies and procedures Provide consistent quality and valued service, while complying with Corporate and Department policies and procedures and State of Montana Child Care Licensing Regulations. Contribute to an atmosphere of positivity, teamwork, and mutual support, while leading by example. Look for the good in others and assume positive intentions. Be caring, compassionate, and hospitable, while acting with integrity and honesty. Ensure that a safe working environment exists. Maintain an active status on the MT Early Childhood Practitioner Registry. Position Duties The ideal candidate will be committed to building deep relationships with their students and use knowledge to develop and execute an emergent curriculum that captures students’ curiosity and love for learning. Through innovative project-based learning, social-emotional lessons and discussion, and purposeful play, the Assistant Preschool Teacher will create a joyful, cooperative environment. The Assistant Teacher will assist the lead teacher in setting up and maintaining the classroom according to state, STARS and curricular standards. The Assistant Teacher will also oversee the classroom operations and substitute for the lead teacher on occasion as needed. Documentation and Communication Other

Hours and days of the week must be flexible to meet scheduling requirements. Ability to maintain the quality of the programs. Demonstrated ability to work as a team, verbally communicate with both adults and children. Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and remain calm in difficult situations. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply licensing, STARS, and health standard.s Ability to understand acceptable early childhood practices and the stages of child development and implement acceptable positive behavior guidance techniques. Ability to follow instructions and demonstrate accurate record keeping, time management and multi-tasking skills. Ability to accept constructive criticism and make adjustment as needed. Ability to lift and carry infants, young toddlers, toy tubs and laundry bags on a regular basis, which requires mobility and physical demands. Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, sit in low chairs and on the floor for extended periods of time, which requires mobility and physical demands. Ability to clean indoors and maintain outdoors by raking and sweeping, which requires mobility and physical demands. Ability to be flexible based on daily needs of center. The employee must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and be able to work under time and/or deadline pressures. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand at least 90% of the shift; use hands to finger; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, squat, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift up to 10 pounds, rarely lift up to 20 pounds, occasionally lift up to 40 pounds, but rarely lift more than 40 pounds. The employee must occasionally reach above shoulder height, frequently reach from chest to shoulder, frequently reach from waist to chest, and frequently reach below waist level. The employee must occasionally carry up to 12 pounds but rarely carry up to 20 pounds. The employee must frequently push / pull up to 20 pounds, and frequently push up to 40 pounds but rarely push over 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required of this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Education and Experience Graduation from high school or GED preferred and experience working with young children. Meet licensing requirements for immunizations (being immunized against MMR and a Tdap booster in the past 10 years) as well as negative TB clearance. First Aid / CPR Certified in Pediatric and Adult, or ability to become certified immediately upon hire. Subject to a minimum of 16 hours of Early Childhood training annually Early Childhood Education Degree Preferred Knowledge of NAEYC Accreditation Standards and Code of Ethics Knowledge of STARS policies, practices and procedures including meal preparation and service Supervision This position interacts with managers, staff and other departmental staff, residents, and resident designees, to promote resident care. The employee is authorized to make decisions as to the timing and sequence of work and the work is performed according to established policies and procedures and/or within applicable laws, rules, and regulations governing the tasks being performed. Decisions Impact of Decisions and Errors Made by Position Decisions, final recommendations, and/or errors primarily affect other employees in the work unit/department that this position is assigned to but may on occasion affect all employees of the Communities. Judgment Required in Decision-making Job duties typically involve frequently changing conditions and problems, requiring considerable judgment in applying factual background and fundamental principles to the development of approaches and techniques for the solution of problems. Exception Authority This position cannot authorize exceptions to Corporate policy or procedure. Personal Contacts In an effective manner, this position maintains daily contact and interaction with the public, residents and resident family members, and coworkers. This position interacts with department managers and administrators on a daily basis. Working Conditions This position works in a temperature-controlled facility environment. This position is exposed, on a weekly or more frequent basis, to the following: biological fluids (including but not limited to, vomit, urine and feces), blood borne pathogens, upset and/or angry residents and/or family members, risk of cuts, burns, shock, or other minor injuries (not requiring hospitalization); unpleasant substances, odors, or noises.
