About the role

The Home Visitor provides comprehensive home-visiting services to expectant parents and families, assessing needs and establishing development goals. They also collaborate with program staff to link families with community resources and maintain accurate documentation of child observations.

The Home Visitor is a critical member of the Early Head Start team, providing comprehensive home-visiting services within a strength-based, family-centered model to expectant parents and families with young children. As a Home Visitor, you will assess the strengths and needs of children and families, partner with parents to establish family and child development goals, and support families in expanding their support systems. You will provide observations of parent-child interactions, including assessing for effective communication and empathic responses, and engage parents in reflective dialogue on the developing parent-child relationship. Home Visitors will collaborate with other Early Head Start program staff, including Family Support Specialists, to link families with appropriate referrals and community supports.

Candidate qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred) OR Bachelor's degree in social work or related family services field with at least 15 credits in (ECE) Early Childhood Education
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Two years' related experience in outreach or casework preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and daily access to a reliable vehicle required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Adheres to and supports implementation of all Performance Standards, program philosophy, and the policies and procedures of Brightpoint.
  • Implements assigned Home Visiting model with fidelity to the model. Keeps certification current as needed.
  • Writes weekly lesson plans and conducts age-appropriate activities with parents and children to support the child’s growth and development.
  • Assists the Family Support Specialists in assessing the family’s need for services, setting goals, and obtaining all consents needed for family to achieve goals.
  • Assists parents in understanding age-appropriate expectations of child development and behavior.
  • Implements special projects with parents and children as directed.
  • Assists in identification of children who may have varying abilities and works with appropriate staff in securing additional services as needed.
  • Monitors and ensures materials and equipment used in Home Visiting parent-child activities are complete and in good condition at all times
  • Actively assists in preparation of family socialization activities, including lesson planning, materials, and equipment set up and break down.
  • Assists in identifying families who could benefit from additional supportive services.
  • Completes child observations and records documentation in required paper and/or software according to specified timeframe.
  • Completes all documentation as assigned. Maintains complete and accurate required child files, forms and records within required timelines.
  • Engages parents in the development and implementation of educational curriculum, parent activities, educational opportunities, and community involvement.

Job details

Compensation:

Hourly: Range is between $20.19-$23.24 per hour, offers are commensurate with experience and bilingual candidates may receive additional compensation. The salary range provided represents our current estimate for this role at the time of posting and is subject to change. The final salary will be determined based on a range of factors, including but not limited to, a candidate's relevant experience, education, qualifications, skills, certifications, and alignment with organizational needs.
