About the role

The psychologist will provide comprehensive psychological evaluations and trauma-informed interventions for children and families affected by developmental trauma. They will also participate in program development, provide clinical consultations, and collaborate with community partners and social services.

Description

As a Psychologist at FamilyForward you will primarily provide comprehensive psychological evaluations for children and adolescents who have experienced developmental trauma (abuse/neglect) and provide recommendations and coaching for families and support systems. Utilizing a trauma-informed approach, you will engage families to increase family knowledge of positive parenting, improve relationships between children and caregivers, reduce mental health symptoms, and promote resiliency through psychoeducation, testing, and recommendations from the evaluation.

You may also have opportunities to provide other therapeutic services, supervision, and program development within FamilyForward’s Developmental Trauma Center and other Agency sites. You’ll receive individual supervision and on-going peer supervision from other members of the Developmental Trauma Center staff.

What to expect on a given day as a psychologist

You will provide outpatient mental health services to biological, foster, and adopted children and their families and to other types of clients as time permits You’ll provide services at assigned FamilyForward locations and community-based settings as needed to meet program and client needs, which travel between agency sites is required You will offer standardized evaluations and assessment measures, written and verbal evaluations of the child’s current functional relationships with others and self, emotional regulation, and diagnostics You will provide family-based and trauma-informed interventions You’ll provide clinical consultations for FamilyForward staff You may provide supervision and/or support to psychology interns, post-doctoral residents, and other students as assigned and consistent with licensure, qualifications, and program needs You’ll participate in community education forums that focus on adoption, foster care, trauma, attachment, and other topics within the program’s focus or as assigned You will attend education or team meetings for children, working closely with child protective services, social workers, attorneys, educational staff, and other mental health professionals You’ll prepare summary reports on clients for social workers, judges, attorneys, teachers, or others, as needed You will participate with staff in development and evaluation of the program You’ll attend individual and staff meetings as requested by Program Director You will assist in the revision of existing policies and procedures related to service delivery You’ll assist with review and evaluation of current agency programs You will collaborate with other programs and serves as an informed agency advocate You will open and maintain current records of all clients in accordance with agency policies and procedures for treatment You will keep statistical accounts of caseloads and productivity monthly You’ll maintain a working knowledge of community by participating in inter-agency functions and other community social services functions You’ll complete other duties and projects as assigned

You would be a good fit for this position if you

Have a Doctorate degree in clinical psychology Have three years of experience, preferred Have a license or eligible for licensure in the State of Missouri (PsyD or PhD) Your license is clear of any Board, liability insurance complaints, or probation You have experience working with children and families, with adoption and/or foster care preferred You have experience with serving high needs populations You have excellent written and oral communication skills You are able to handle confidential information, administrative details, work independently, prioritize work, and meet deadlines You have reliable transportation to travel between agency locations and community-based settings as needed

Working Conditions This position requires sustained periods of work on the computer, including writing/typing.

This position requires frequent and prolonged communication with others, in-person and via telephone/virtual conferencing.

The employee will be asked to move around rooms or within a space.

The employee may be asked to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, or greater with assistance.

This position may require travel between agency sites, must have transportation to all Agency sites, including external locations where events are held.

This position occasionally requires evening and/or weekend work.

Requirements
