  • Compensation: Stipend based on approximately 40 hours at $62.50 per hour, up to $2,500 per season Available Sports Boys Basketball Girls Basketball Boys Soccer Girls Soccer Position Overview The Lower School Athletics Coach is responsible for providing CAIS student-athletes with a safe, inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and positive athletic experience. The coach will introduce and develop fundamental sport skills while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, effort, and enjoyment. Coaches are expected to support the CAIS Athletics philosophy, follow all school and CYO policies, and create an environment in which athletes of all experience levels can learn and succeed. Seasonal Commitment Approximately 8–10 weeks, depending on playoff eligibility Two after-school practices per week Weekend games Games may be hosted at CAIS or at other CYO locations throughout San Francisco Attendance at all scheduled practices and games Transportation to and from practices and games must be provided or arranged by the coach Essential Responsibilities Plan and lead organized, age-appropriate practices. Teach the fundamental skills, rules, and strategies of the sport. Create an inclusive environment for athletes of varying skill and experience levels. Provide clear instruction, encouragement, and constructive feedback. Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, kindness, and respect. Develop appropriate game plans, lineups, and player rotations. Prioritize athlete safety and follow all injury, concussion, and emergency procedures. Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices and competitions. Communicate schedules, expectations, and important updates with families and the Athletic Director. Maintain attendance and promptly communicate athlete absences or concerns. Care for school uniforms, equipment, and facilities. Report injuries, behavioral concerns, or significant incidents to the Athletic Director. Represent CAIS professionally when interacting with athletes, families, officials, and opposing schools. QualificationsRequired Qualifications One to two years of coaching or relevant playing experience in the selected sport. Knowledge of the fundamental skills and rules of the sport. Ability to create effective practice plans for Lower School student-athletes. Ability to work positively with children of different skill levels. Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills. Dependability and availability for all scheduled practices and games. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Completion of required concussion protocol training. Successful completion of a CYO Live Scan background check. Completion of all required CYO coach certifications and trainings.

Requirements

Candidates must have one to two years of coaching or playing experience in the relevant sport and possess strong leadership and communication skills. Required certifications include CPR, First Aid, concussion protocol training, and a successful background check.
