About the role

The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering a Spanish immersion curriculum while supporting the social-emotional development of children. They also manage classroom operations, mentor assistant teachers, and maintain strong partnerships with families.

ABOUT ATLAS IMMERSION ACADEMY Atlas Immersion Academy is a multilingual early childhood education organization offering Spanish, French, and Chinese immersion programs for children from 3 months through Pre-K across five Portland Metro campuses. Starting August 31, 2026, our Multnomah County campuses will operate as Preschool For All (PFA) facilities — Multnomah County's initiative providing free, high-quality preschool to eligible children. We are now hiring Spanish-speaking Lead Teachers for our Gabriel Park and Northeast campuses to join this exciting launch.

THE ROLE As a Lead Teacher, you are the heart of the classroom.

You will plan and deliver Spanish immersion-based curriculum aligned with the Atlas framework and Multnomah County PFA standards, support each child's social-emotional development, build strong partnerships with families, and mentor your assistant teacher.

Curriculum planning time is built into your weekly schedule.

Lead Teachers are held to an elevated standard of professional practice, including ongoing documentation of each child's progress, regular curriculum reflections, family engagement events, and mentorship of classroom staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Step 7 on the Oregon Registry Online (ORO) is required Fluency in Spanish and English — all instruction and classroom conversation will be conducted in Spanish, while most family communication will be in English. One of the following: Associate degree in ECE or related field with 1 year of experience with children ages 0–5 in a licensed setting; Bachelor's or Master's degree in ECE or related field; or equivalent combination of education and qualifying teaching experience Experience in early childhood education in a licensed preschool or childcare setting preferred Required prior to employment or within the first 30 days: Oregon Food Handler's Card Registration in the Central Background Check Registry (employees 18+) Adult and Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification Prevention is Better than Treatment, Introduction to Child Health and Safety, Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect, Foundations for Learning, and Safe Sleep for Oregon's Infants trainings Conscious Discipline (within the first 90 days)

COMPENSATION Lead Teachers at these campuses are compensated on the Multnomah County PFA wage scale, ranging between $23 and $33 per hour. Your hourly wage depends on your experience and/or ORO Step award.
